CA Showcases Impact of ICTs on Climate Smart Agriculture as ASK Shows Resume
The Authority made a great comeback to the Kisumu Regional Show this past week, bagging seven (7) awards, including the best regulatory stand at the trade fair.
Beyond edging other regulators to emerge tops, the Authority was also the best Media Services Stand. It came second in community projects and activities as well as the best stand interpreting the show theme, promoting climate smart agriculture and trade initiatives for sustainable economic growth. The Authority showcased how ICT services are positively impacting sustainable agricultural endeavours that don’t harm the environment.
The Authority emerged third in three other categories, namely; the Best Stand Non-Agricultural Based Statutory Board Stand, the Best Stand Embracing Information Technology and Communication Systems and Best Stand in Youth Empowerment Activities and Capacity Building.
The Show afforded the Authority an opportunity to create awareness on its mandate, with nearly 5,000 people visiting the stand. School going children were enlightened on child online protection.
Cyber security was particularly an area of interest following recent disruptions of online services in the country.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi who was the chief guest, visited the Authority’s stand. As a former minister for Broadcasting and Information, the PCS was impressed by CA’s display, which included regulatory tools such as the mobile spectrum monitoring system and the quality of service monitoring system.
Other guests who visited the CA stand include the Nyanza Regional Commissioner Flora Mworoa and the Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Elisha Oraro.
The Authority was returning to the show after a five-year break, partly occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic. With Kisumu edition now done, focus now shifts to Mombasa International Show which will take place in early September.
